
Gabriel Guignier is a French cellist and a student at the Pernoo School of Musical Performance under the guidance of cellist Jérôme Pernoo.
Born in 2006 into a musical family, Gabriel Guignier started cello at five with Véronique Alvarez at Aulnay-sous-Bois Conservatory. At 15, he unanimously entered the CNSMDP, studying with Jérôme Pernoo, Cyrille Lacrouts, and Edgar Moreau, while attending the Pernoo School.
Awarded Third Prize at the “Tremplin” Competition, he won First Prize and Best Contemporary Interpretation (Tadas Petrulis) at the 2023 David Geringas Competition.
In 2024, he earned Second Prize at the Pau Casals Competition, then First Prize at the 2025 Lions European Music Competition. Invited to perform at Palazzetto Bru Zane and Musikfest with Edgar Moreau, Stéphanie Huang, Victor Julien-Laferrière, and Aurélien Pascal, he has also played at La Roque d’Anthéron, Journées Ravel, Festival Syrinx, Les Étoiles du Classique, and Vacances de Monsieur Haydn.
He has taken masterclasses with Gary Hoffman and Mischa Maisky, and attended Kronberg Academy, Villecroze, Flaine, and Musica Mundi, working with Jacques Rouvier, Andreas Frölich, Alexandra Soumm, Claire Désert, Olivier Charlier, and Trio Wanderer.
Gabriel plays a Bofill cello, loaned by Mrs. Rosoor via the TALENTS & VIOLON’CELLES fund.
