Shicong Li is a young Chinese cellist, a former student of the Pernoo School of Musical Performance, currently studying with Clemens Hagen at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and a member of the Gautier Capuçon Foundation.

Biography

Shicong Li, born in 2002 in southern China, discovered a passion for music at an early age. He began playing the cello at the age of 8.

In 2015, Shicong Li enrolled in the preparatory program at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the guidance of Yibing Chu. In 2019, he joined Jérôme Pernoo’s class at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse.

He regularly participates in master classes and academies, where he has benefited from the guidance of Clemens Hagen, Philippe Muller, Gary Hoffmann, Xenia Jankovic, and many others. In 2024, he joined the Jaroussky Academy in Anne Gastinel’s class.

Shicong is also passionate about chamber music. He founded the Oxymore Trio with Masaki Morishita on violin and Madoka Okada on piano. Together, they won first prize at the Fnapec Competition in 2025 and are currently artists-in-residence at ProQuartet. He is continuing his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in Clemens Hagen’s class.

He is a recipient of the Gautier Capuçon Foundation award, 2025.
