Biography

Claire Oppert is a French cellist, whose career bridges performance, teaching, and music therapy. She studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where she graduated in 1993, and also holds a degree in philosophy from Sorbonne University as well as a university diploma in art therapy.

Alongside her work as a concert performer, she is deeply involved in education, teaching at the Zahar Bron Music School in Zurich and at the Musica Mundi School in Waterloo. Since 1997, she has developed a pioneering approach to music therapy, working with autistic patients, elderly people with dementia, and individuals in palliative care settings. Her work explores the impact of live music on pain, anxiety, and emotional well-being.

In 2020, she published Le Pansement Schubert, a book recounting her experiences in therapeutic settings and illustrating the profound effects of music on patients and caregivers. She also performs in chamber music, notably with the Saitkoulov Trio alongside pianist Roustem Saitkoulov and violinist Clara Saitkoulov.
